Șușara Waterfall and Gorge

Three hours there and back along the water, no difficulty. The entrances to the old mine galleries are visible on the way.

Cascada Șușara pe toată înălțimea ei, prăvălindu-se în două trepte peste travertinul galben-verzui, între pereții de calcar ai cheilor

The right walk for a first day. The path climbs along the Șușara valley, crossing the water either at its level or on low footbridges. It has no difficulty rating and children manage it easily.

At the end is the waterfall, dropping over a block of moss-covered travertine. The flow is strongest in spring and after rain; it thins in summer, but the place stays cool and shaded all year.

The path passes Cabana Șușara, built in 1855 as the mining colony's inn and casino. Some three hundred metres beyond it, on the right, is the mouth of the Roman Mine — one of the old galleries of the copper works that made Sasca a town.
