Nera Monastery
Two kilometres downstream along the river bank. The largest monastery in the Banat, home to about a hundred nuns.
The shortest walk from here, and the quietest. Start at the bridge on the way into the village, turn right, and follow the left bank of the Nera downstream.
About a hundred nuns live there, which makes it the largest monastery in the Banat.
It can be done on foot or by car along the forest road. The monastery has a shop selling medicinal herbs and religious objects.
Șușara Waterfall and Gorge
Three hours there and back along the water, no difficulty. The entrances to the old mine galleries are visible on the way.
The Nera Gorges
Twenty-two kilometres of gorge, caves, overhanging paths and cable crossings. The wildest in the country.
The Tunnels and Podul Bei
Tunnels cut by hand through the rock, along the Nera. Two hours of easy walking with the river alongside.
